NOBLE, Illinois Department of Transportation, and State Farm Insurance had a booth at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. This booth was organized to show parents and grandparents how to keep children safe while riding in a car. They showed adults how to properly place a car safety seat in an automobile. A safety seat must be tightly fastened in order to prevent accidental movement of the seat and endanger the child. The group gave demonstrations on how to properly place a child in a safety seat as well as the use of a car seat's belt to lock down the safety seat. The group even brought their children and their child safety seats with them. Our traffic safety specialists also looked at the seats parents were using and gave parents assessments. The most common issues our team found was that the seats were too loosely secured to the car and that the straps were positioned too low on the children.
